FIDAL (Field Trials Beyond 5G) is EU project composed of 19 partners across Europe and funded as part of the European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertakings (SNS JU) programme which aims to boost 5G deployment and foster Europe’s technology sovereignty in 6G.
The aim of the project is to develop an advanced open infrastructure for rapid prototyping and validation of application beyond 5G focusing in on Media and Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) verticals.
The project’s key objectives are to extend and deliver:
1. Advance future proof evolved 5G test infrastructures, anticipating evolution into the next SNS phase
2. Open Calls to support third party vertical experiments
3. Test environments for rapid prototyping and large-scale of advanced, forward-looking applications
To achieve so, FIDAL will deploy 3 testbeds and 3 large-scale test infrastructures in Greece, Norway and Spain.
