The FIDAL project is pleased to announce its contribution to the White Paper, "SNS Innovation to Support Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR)," published by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).

The White Paper sets out how emerging 6G capabilities can be aligned with the real operational needs of public protection and disaster relief communities. The work also feeds directly into the broader effort to build a pan-European Critical Communication System (EUCCS), supporting the goal of interoperable, secure, and resilient communication infrastructure capable of underpinning cross-border emergency operations by 2040.

The Paper confirms that the core technological building blocks for resilient, intelligent, and pan-European public safety communications are already within reach. At the same time, its analysis — shaped in part by FIDAL's input — points to a number of priorities that must guide the next phase of research and deployment:

• Operationally grounded interoperability 
• Resilience as a core requirement 
• A broader societal lens on 6G 
• Realistic stress-testing 
• Coverage of the full crisis lifecycle 
• Trust and accountability by design 

As a contributor to this SNS JU publication, FIDAL continues to support the shaping of Europe's 6G research agenda around practical, deployable value for the public safety community.
